North Bali's Blue Economic Revolution: N219 Becomes Key to Air Transportation
Bandung, BandungOke – In North Bali, the sea is no longer merely a stretch of salt water waiting for fishermen to come and then go home. It is being prepared to become a blue economy showcase, a place where lobster, tuna, grouper, and crab are born as world-class commodities.
Above it, a sea airport is being imagined, and in the air, a small aircraft plays a role like a “fast ship without waves,” which is the N219, ready to cut the delivery time of marine commodities.
Today, the idea that previously sounded like a passage from a science fiction novel is given a more tangible form. PT Dirgantara Indonesia (PTDI) and PT BIBU Panji Sakti signed a Memorandum of Understanding for the procurement of three N219 cargo configuration units, making it the backbone of the first sea–air logistics chain on the North Bali coast.
N219 When the Aircraft Becomes a Sea Cargo Ship
Imagine live lobsters from Buleleng's fish cages (keramba), groupers from Menjangan Island, and fresh tuna from the Bali Strait being lifted not by refrigerated trucks that have to take a long detour, but directly by the N219 feeder aircraft which can land on short runways and immediately fly towards the BIBU Argo Maritim sea airport.
That is the great vision conveyed by PTDI's Director of Commerce, Technology & Development, Moh Arif Faisal.
“The N219 shortens logistics travel time, thus making the competitiveness of high-value marine products stronger,” he said. Tuesday (12/9/2025)
This aircraft, Moh Arif Faisal said, will collect commodities from coastal points in Bali, then forward them to large-bodied aircraft for export. From the fish cage to Europe—without the drama of delays.
PT BIBU Panji Sakti, through its President Director Erwanto S. A. Hariwibowo, referred to this collaboration as the sea–air connector that has been awaited for years.
“The North Bali ecosystem is ready. Fishermen and the community will feel the benefits directly,” he stated.
North Bali: From Marine Produce Center to Aerocity-Based Export Hub
PT BIBU Panji Sakti is not merely an aircraft buyer. They are building an aerocity and an airport on the sea, a concept that was once considered a utopia in 1996 when North Bali marine produce enthusiasts pioneered the idea of rapid distribution for the export of premium commodities.
Now, with the support of PTDI, that concept has changed from a blueprint into a measurable ecosystem featuring: A sea airport as the main hub, the N219 as the fastest cargo flying-ship from the fish cages, an air-connected marine produce center, a cold chain integrated from the coast, and direct export to the global market.
This, he revealed, is not just about building an airport, but about creating a blue economic corridor that unites the sea as the source and the air as the main deliverer of added value.
N219: Small, Agile, and Needed by the World Market
This twin-engine turboprop aircraft is indeed designed for challenging missions. From remote cargo, pioneer flights, to medical missions. The commercial status of the N219 continues to rise, namely: 6 units for the Ministry of Defense, 5 units for the Democratic Republic of Congo, 4 units LoI from BAKAMLA, 25 units from Linkfield Technologies (China), as well as a number of MoUs with regional governments.
In North Bali, the N219 finds a more specific function as a transporter of high-value marine biota. This is where the aircraft and the sea meet—not to compete for space, but to shorten the distance of economic value.
The Blue Economy That Is No Longer Merely a Concept
When fish cages on the coast can be directly connected to the global market via air, the definition of the blue economy leaps from theory to reality.
PTDI, through its collaboration with PT BIBU Panji Sakti, positions itself as a new pillar in a sector usually far removed from the world of aviation.
The N219 is not just an aircraft. It becomes a symbol that the future of Indonesia's marine distribution does not have to wait for large ships; sometimes it arrives with two fast-spinning propellers, then flies carrying the hopes of fishermen to the international skies. And North Bali, it seems, is ready to welcome its new chapter.***
