N219, PTDI's aircraft that can be "magically" customized to suit needs and missions.

BANDUNG, KOMPAS.com - As a flagship product of PT Dirgantara Indonesia (PTDI), the N219 aircraft is claimed to have various specifications that are capable of reaching 3TP (Frontier, Outermost, Disadvantaged, and Border) regions.

After undergoing a series of flight tests, with the first test flight taking place in 2017, in December 2020, the N219 aircraft officially received a Type Certificate (TC) from the Indonesian civil aviation authority, the Directorate of Airworthiness and Aircraft Operations (DKPPU) of the Ministry of Transportation.

This achievement confirms that the N219 meets safety and airworthiness standards as stipulated in CASR Part 23 (Airworthiness Standards for Aeroplanes in the Normal, Utility, Acrobatic, or Commuter Category).

With this certificate, the N219 is declared ready for commercial production and operation.

The N219 is also the first domestically designed aircraft to be certified.

Multi-mission

One of the N219's main advantages is its flexible multi-mission configuration, meaning the N219 can be "transformed" according to needs.

This aircraft is designed as a versatile platform that can be adapted to various operational needs, such as passenger transport with its standard 19-seat configuration.

This type is ideal for pioneering and regional flights.

The N219 can also be modified to transport cargo, capable of supporting logistics distribution to remote areas with limited access.

The N219 can even be "transformed" into a vehicle for more serious missions, such as Medical Evacuation (Medevac), Search & Rescue (SAR), military operations, and even Maritime Surveillance.

PTDI also has specifications for an Amphibious Variant.

This variant is being developed to open access to water-based transportation, including supporting the tourism and logistics sectors in archipelagic regions.

Going forward, the development of advanced variants such as amphibious and maritime patrol versions will further strengthen the N219's position as a strategic platform capable of simultaneously meeting both civilian and defense needs, while also strengthening Indonesia's position in the global aerospace industry.

Moreover, the Domestic Component Level (TKDN) in a single N219 unit has reached 44.69 percent, and it is 100 percent designed by Indonesian engineers, marking a new milestone in the nation's aerospace technology mastery.

Aircraft Order

PT Dirgantara Indonesia (PTDI) has received an order for N219 aircraft for commercial use from a domestic company.

The company, Mitra Aviasi Perkasa (MAP), operates in the aviation education and training sector in Indonesia.

Febrian Alphyanto Ruddyard, Deputy Minister of the National Development Planning Agency (Bappenas), who attended the signing of the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between PTDI and MAP, stated that the signing marks a new milestone for the domestic aerospace industry.

"Today, PT Dirgantara Indonesia (PTDI) has signed a sales contract for the N219 to a private company for private commercial aviation," said Febrian at the PTDI hangar on Jalan Pajajaran, Bandung, West Java, on Tuesday (May 5, 2026).

PTDI President Director Gita Amperiawan explained that the scope of the contract includes the procurement of four N219 cargo aircraft and their equipment, including training and technical publications. The completion and delivery will be carried out in stages after the contract becomes effective.

Gita confirmed that this is the first N219 aircraft contract for the domestic commercial market. The four aircraft ordered by MAP are valued at US$36.1 million.

"This aircraft is designed for pioneering aviation, with the capability to operate on short runways of less than 1 km and unpaved runways," he said.
