Surabaya (01/16) – The Royal Thai Navy (RTN) visited the Naval Aviation Center (Puspenerbal) in Surabaya, accompanied by the Director of Commerce, Technology & Development of PTDI, Moh Arif Faisal, and the management team of PTDI.

As the only aircraft industry in Southeast Asia, by 2024 PTDI has successfully delivered 70 units of the CN235 series aircraft to various countries, including Thailand. Currently, there is a potential plan to procure 2 units of multi-role transport aircraft equivalent to the CN235-220, where PTDI has also presented the product to high-level decision makers within the RTN. Their visit to Surabaya today is a follow-up from the RTN to directly inspect the CN235-220 aircraft produced by PTDI.

Thailand has become one of the strategic markets for PTDI due to the continuously growing defense needs, especially in the maritime and air sectors. The aircraft produced by PTDI, such as the CN235-220, NC212i, and N219, have capabilities that are relevant for supporting military operations, logistics transportation, and even civilian needs in Thailand, including maritime patrol. In addition, Thailand's track record of having 3 units of the CN235 series aircraft – 2 units of the CN235-110 operated by DRRAA Thailand and 1 unit of the CN235-220 operated by the Royal Thai Police (RTP) – also presents an opportunity for PTDI to support Maintenance, Repair & Overhaul (MRO) activities and provide comprehensive solutions in maintaining the aircraft's serviceability. Not only for the CN235 series products, but also for the 8 units of the NC212 series aircraft that are currently still operated by DRRAA Thailand.

Today's demo flight activity is a follow-up by the RTN to directly review the CN235-220 aircraft produced by PTDI.

In this demo flight activity, Puspenerbal also supports the smoothness and safety of the flight by including experienced crew members. The crew involved possess proficient expertise in military aviation and aircraft operations, ensuring that the CN235-220 aircraft flies optimally and meets high safety standards.

With the potential procurement of 2 units of CN235-220 class aircraft by RTN, PTDI is also committed to building full-MRO capacity for CN235-220 aircraft in Thailand, as PTDI has previously conducted MRO activities for RTP in Thailand. This effort is undertaken to enhance Thailand's capability in performing heavy maintenance on aircraft of the CN235-220 class.

The Director of Commerce, Technology & Development at PTDI, Moh Arif Faisal, said, "The RTN's visit to Surabaya is a strategic step that will strengthen bilateral relations and open up new collaboration opportunities." They want to see what the latest CN235-220 aircraft produced by PTDI looks like, which is at Puspenerbal with a Maritime Patrol Aircraft (MPA) configuration, using new avionics from Genesys Aerosystems and a new mission system from Nexeya. We are optimistic that the superiority of PTDI's product, in this case the CN235-220, can meet their needs.
