PTDI Expands Aircraft Maintenance Services, Targets Commercial and Private Jet Markets
KOMPAS.com – PT Dirgantara Indonesia (PTDI) continues to expand its aircraft maintenance service coverage through its Aircraft Services (ACS) division. No longer limited to military aircraft, PTDI is now aggressively entering the civil aviation sector, including commercial and private jets. At its hangar facility in Bandung, PTDI offers a range of services, including maintenance, repair, modification, painting, and aircraft lifespan extension programs. All these services are supported by certifications from the Directorate of Airworthiness and Aircraft Operations (DKPPU), as well as ISO 9001 and AS/EN 9110 quality management systems.
One of the latest projects is the repainting (new livery paint) for several private jets such as the Boeing Business Jet (BBJ), Gulfstream G450/G550, and Embraer Legacy 600/650.
For commercial aircraft, PTDI recently handled the repainting and seat replacement of an Airbus A319 owned by Aero Dili, Timor-Leste. Currently, PTDI's hangar is also working on major maintenance (C-Check) for the Airbus A320 owned by Citilink Indonesia. This project is part of the cooperation between PTDI and GMF AeroAsia. 'This collaboration not only opens up sustainable job opportunities for similar fleets owned by Citilink and other prospective customers, but also encourages the overall improvement of PTDI's capability list,' said Daud Zaini, Head of Maintenance Division at PTDI, in his written statement on Monday (4/8/2025).
According to Daud, the partnership with GMF also aims to strengthen the domestic aircraft maintenance industry. The two are collaborating on workforce development, training, and the provision of reverse engineering-based equipment. This expansion step is in line with PTDI's plan to make the facilities in Bandung a comprehensive Maintenance, Repair, and Overhaul (MRO) service center. Not only for military purposes, but also for commercial aircraft and general aviation. So far, PTDI's ACS services have been used by more than 50 customers from three continents. PTDI is also in the process of obtaining permits from international aviation authorities to reach a wider global market. Daud added that Indonesia's geographical condition as an archipelago creates a significant need for air transportation. However, maintenance for many commercial aircraft and private jets is still carried out abroad. "Much of the maintenance is still done in Singapore, Malaysia, Thailand, and even Australia, because they have world-class MRO. This is an opportunity for us to compete and strengthen the national aerospace industry," said Daud.
He emphasized that quality remains a top priority in ACS PTDI's services. "Consistency with standards and customer satisfaction is the main foundation of all our work," he said. PTDI hopes that this service expansion can strengthen its position as a key player in the national and regional aerospace industry.
