The N219 aircraft made by PTDI is considered suitable for official trips of officials in West Java.

DESKJABAR – The N219 aircraft made by PT Dirgantara Indonesia (PTDI) is considered suitable for government officials' official trips to remote areas in West Java. With its design and capabilities, the N219 aircraft is expected to be efficient for routes from Bandung to Tasikmalaya, Pangandaran, Cirebon, Majalengka, Sukabumi, Bogor, etc.

This assessment of the N219 aircraft made by PTDI was expressed by Bandung Mayor M. Farhan during the Harkteknas 2025 Seminar at PTDI Bandung on Monday, August 11, 2025, as there are several districts/cities in West Java that have small airports.

"Based on its design and capabilities, the N219 aircraft seems to be efficient for government officials' official trips. It seems to be faster to reach locations compared to long land trips that are hindered by traffic jams," said Farhan.

The N219 aircraft is a type of twin-engine propeller plane with a capacity of 19 passengers. The N219 is becoming the new flagship production of PTDI for twin-engine high-wing turboprop aircraft, which is being developed for commercial purposes.

Husein Sastranegara Airport in Bandung serves as the central departure point for regional flights in West Java. Flights using the N219 from Bandung can go to Pangandaran, Tasikmalaya, Cirebon, Majalengka, Sukabumi, Subang, Bogor, and Garut.

Boosting Marketing

The President Director of PTDI, Gita Amperiawan, mentioned that for commercial flight needs, there are already five provinces in Indonesia interested in using the N219 aircraft, namely Riau, Bengkulu, North Kalimantan, East Nusa Tenggara, and Papua. The governments of these five provinces are preparing to determine who the flight operator will be, financial acquisition, etc.

"PTDI is ramping up the marketing of the N219 aircraft. Various versions continue to be developed, including commercial, amphibious, military, etc.," said Gita Amperiawan.

The N219 aircraft is designed to be reliable and strong in the forefront and border areas, as it is a type of STOL (short take-off and landing) aircraft. It can land on unpaved airfields and maneuver nimbly between hills, for example, in Papua.

The N219 aircraft was initially produced for the military version, with six units purchased by the Ministry of Defense. Reportedly, PTDI will receive orders for up to 20 more N2919 units.

Another version that is also being developed is the amphibious N219 type, which can land and fly on water. This version is suitable for transporting tourist flights between small islands in Indonesia.
