PTDI to Stand Out at DSA 2026, Key to the Malaysian Market

"PTDI is utilizing DSA 2026 not just as a product showcase, but as a stage for defense industry diplomacy by securing the Malaysian market with an end-to-end solution approach, from the CN235 to after-sales services and potential new defense systems,"

Kuala Lumpur, Bandung — Amidst intense competition in the Asia-Pacific defense industry, PT Dirgantara Indonesia (PTDI) has reaffirmed its ambitions in the regional market.

At the Defense Services Asia (DSA) 2026 event at the Malaysia International Trade & Exhibition Centre (MITEC), Kuala Lumpur, April 20–23, 2026, PTDI is not just an exhibitor, but also a vendor of the defense solutions ecosystem.

Under the umbrella of the Indonesia Pavilion, along with the Indonesian Ministry of Defense and Holding Defend ID, PTDI is bringing a larger narrative than just aircraft sales: consolidating Indonesia's position in the regional defense industry chain.

PTDI's track record in Malaysia is a key asset. Since 1999, seven CN235-220s have been operated by the Royal Malaysian Air Force (RMAF), consisting of one VVIP Military Transport and six Military Transports.

In 2023, three of these aircraft were modified into Maritime Surveillance Aircraft (MSA), expanding the aircraft's strategic role in maritime surveillance.

But PTDI is not stopping there. Beyond the aircraft platform, the company emphasizes sustainable service through a full lifecycle support approach—from Maintenance, Repair & Overhaul (MRO) and the Service Life Extension Program (SLEP), to the provision of spare parts, rewiring, modifications, and structural repairs.

This approach demonstrates a shift in strategy, from simply a manufacturer to a provider of long-term operational solutions.

In addition to the CN235-220, PTDI is also opening new collaboration opportunities in Malaysia, including the NC212i and N219 platforms, and even the 70mm rocket system.

This move expands PTDI's business spectrum from air transportation to more integrated defense systems.

"PTDI's participation in DSA 2026 is an important momentum to strengthen our presence in Malaysia as a long-term partner. With our track record of operating CN235-220 aircraft in the RMAF and experience in various after-sales service programs, PTDI remains committed to providing reliable and sustainable solutions, not only for aircraft products but also for other defense systems such as rockets," said Moh Arif Faisal, PTDI's Director of Commerce, Technology & Development, in a press statement on Tuesday, April 21, 2026.

Behind this statement, DSA 2026 demonstrates one thing: competition in the defense industry is no longer just about platforms, but about who can secure the most comprehensive service, sustainability, and system integration.

For PTDI, Malaysia is not just an old market, but a testing ground for a new strategy—from manufacturing to end-to-end solutions.***
