PTDI Optimistic About Capturing the 19-Seat Aircraft Market as It Turns 50
Bandung (ANTARA) – PT Dirgantara Indonesia (PTDI),
which marks its 50th anniversary in 2026, is optimistic about capturing a niche
in the global aviation industry in the 19-seat propeller aircraft segment
through its N219 aircraft.
PTDI President Director Gita
Amperiawan, speaking on the sidelines of the company’s 50th anniversary
celebration at the PTDI complex in Bandung on Saturday, said the segment is
considered highly promising due to the limited number of competitors.
The optimism is supported by PTDI’s
long track record in the 19-seat aircraft segment, as well as Indonesia’s
position as one of the world’s largest markets for pioneer aviation.
Gita said the N219’s key advantage
lies in its design and production, which are entirely the work of Indonesian
engineers without reliance on foreign licenses, unlike its predecessor series.
“Previously, when we talked about
the CN series, there was a ‘C’ at the beginning, which stood for CASA. With the
N219, the ‘N’ means it is truly 100 percent the work of Indonesian talent. It
also has the highest level of local content, with its domestic component level
(TKDN) reaching nearly 45 percent,” said Gita Amperiawan.
Gita explained that PTDI’s golden
jubilee celebrations, which began with its anniversary on August 23, 2026,
featured a series of activities, including a ceremony, a MURI record-breaking
flight involving children, and a National Symposium with the National
Development Planning Agency (Bappenas) on August 24, which formulated measures
to strengthen the national aviation ecosystem.
The series of activities was
designed to reaffirm the strategic role of the aerospace industry as a key
solution for connectivity in the country’s outermost, frontier, and
underdeveloped regions (3T).
As a foundation for the industry’s
sustainability, PTDI also inaugurated a Training Center together with the
Minister of Manpower of the Republic of Indonesia on Saturday. The facility is
intended to develop and assess the competencies of certified aerospace
personnel.
On Saturday, PTDI also held
“Runtainment,” a fun run inside the company’s production facilities at the PTDI
complex. The running route deliberately passed by displays of aircraft products
manufactured by PTDI, allowing the public to gain a closer look at Indonesia’s
national aviation industry from within the production complex.
Gita emphasized that strengthening
technical capabilities and ecosystem collaboration is expected to demonstrate
Indonesia’s competitiveness on the international stage while stimulating
national economic growth.
“The hope is that we want to show
our nation that we are capable. We have a high-tech industry, an industry with
a very long history, and, God willing, PTDI, together with the entire national
aerospace ecosystem, is ready to provide solutions for this nation,” Gita said.
He expressed his appreciation for
the government’s full support in continuously promoting regulations and
creating greater opportunities for Indonesia’s aerospace sector to strengthen
its presence and gain greater recognition globally.
