PTDI Projected to Become Aerospace Center of Excellence

Bandung, West Java (ANTARA) – Minister of Manpower Yassierli inaugurated the Training Center of PT Dirgantara Indonesia (PTDI) and projected the state-owned company to become a national aerospace center of excellence focused on supplying certified skilled professionals to the global market.

“The challenge ahead is not limited to Indonesia; almost every country faces the same challenge, namely providing training to prepare competent human resources, certification, and global recognition. The Ministry is developing several centers of excellence, with PTDI serving as one for the aerospace sector,” Yassierli said after inaugurating the PTDI Training Center in Bandung, West Java, on Saturday.

According to Yassierli, the initiative is in line with the government’s national targets for 2026, which aim to involve 150,000 participants in the National Internship Program and 300,000 participants in the National Vocational Training Program, as instructed by President Prabowo.

The Ministry of Manpower and PTDI have agreed on a quota of 500 internship participants and 1,000 vocational training participants for 2026.

For the vocational program, Yassierli said it would be integrated between PTDI and the Bandung Center for Vocational Training and Productivity (BBPVP Bandung), with the aim of producing graduates holding national certification from the National Professional Certification Agency (BNSP) as well as professional qualifications recognized internationally through global recognition.

“Our agenda going forward is global recognition. We have begun directing Indonesian human resources so that they not only hold BNSP certification, but also move toward qualifications with global recognition,” he said.

Yassierli added that similar center of excellence models would later be developed for other industrial sectors, including mining, oil and gas, and information technology (IT).

PTDI President Director Gita Amperiawan said the PTDI Training Center focuses on developing certified professionals to meet workforce needs in the second-tier aviation industry, aircraft operators, and the maintenance, repair, and overhaul (MRO) sector.

PTDI has also completed training for dozens of specialists in manufacturing disciplines, with some of them having already departed for the aerospace industry in South Korea.

“Most recently, KAI (Korea Aerospace Industries) has asked us to supply personnel, and we have already supplied 60 people. They requested specific skills such as welding, metal forming, and others. They placed the orders, specified the required numbers, and we carried them out,” he said.

Gita revealed that, in addition to South Korea, PTDI is currently exploring opportunities to expand its human resource supply to the MRO industry in the United Arab Emirates (UAE).

Of the 500 six-month internship positions targeted for this year, PTDI has completed the training of 150 participants and is preparing to complete the remaining 350 participants using the newly inaugurated Training Center facilities.

Meanwhile, for the vocational training program, which lasts less than two months, PTDI is working in synergy with BBPVP Bandung, Universitas Nurtanio (UNUR), and the Bandung Institute of Technology (ITB) to train 1,000 participants, from basic to advanced levels, who will be ready to be placed in the aviation industry.
