From National Symposium to Expansion of Cooperation to Welcome PT Dirgantara Indonesia’s Golden Anniversary

As an archipelagic nation, Indonesia requires transport modes capable of creating inter-island connectivity to build a strong economic ecosystem. Ultimately, such transportation becomes a basic public need to access development in various sectors, including health, education, and logistics distribution throughout all regions.

This statement was delivered by the President Director of PT Dirgantara Indonesia (PTDI), Gita Amperiawan, during his opening address at the National Symposium for PTDI's 50th Anniversary on Wednesday (26/8/2026).

"Indonesia is an archipelagic state. Connectivity is not a luxury, but a fundamental need for development. Many regions require aircraft capable of operating from short runways, transporting people, logistics, health services, and economic hope to all corners of the archipelago," said Gita.

On that occasion, he expressed PTDI's readiness to fulfill all needs for reliable air transportation capable of connecting islands, thereby creating an aerospace ecosystem as a strategic investment. The readiness of the state-owned enterprise is followed by a series of innovations aimed not just for short-term gain, but for technological sovereignty for Indonesia's future generations.

The event, held at PTDI's Final Assembly Line (FAL) Hangar, served as a prime forum fostering collaboration among the government, the aerospace industry, and airline operators. Besides achieving independence in the domestic aviation industry, the collaboration aims to support equitable economic growth and public services, especially in frontier, outermost, and underdeveloped (3TP) regions.

An interesting point was made by Febrian Alphyanto Ruddyar as the keynote speaker. He highlighted PTDI's challenge to engage as many domestic companies as possible to build national economic strength through the aerospace industry.

"Our challenge moving forward is no longer just proving that Indonesia can manufacture aircraft. The next challenge is translating that capability into national economic strength by bolstering the local supply chain," Febrian stated. According to him, aircraft manufacturing requires components sourced from suppliers, but he questioned how many national companies are actually capable of joining that component supply chain.

According to Febrian, current challenges require integrating three aspects that have long been separated—demand, supply, and financing—into a consistent national policy to support pioneer routes.

"We must view pioneer routes not merely as social subsidies, but as economic development investments for regions, where the N219 can take a primary role as a driver of national connectivity," added Febrian, who is also the Deputy Minister of PPN/Bappenas.

The National Symposium was also attended by Deputy Minister of Health Benjamin Paulus Octavianus, Deputy Governor of West Java Erwan Setiawan, Mayor of Bandung Muhammad Farhan, Director General of Defense Potential (Ministry of Defense) Sri Yanto, President Director of PT Len Industri (Persero) Joga Dharma Setiawan, and Vice Chief Commissioner of PTDI, Bagus Puruhito.

The 50th-anniversary celebration of PTDI was also paired with two other key activities: the inauguration of the N219 FAL Hangar—marked by the signing of a plaque by the Deputy Minister of PPN/Bappenas—and the signing of cooperation agreements between PTDI and several regional leaders, ministries, and industrial partners covering investment, capability development, and the utilization of PTDI products.
