50 Years of PTDI, N219 Driven to Become National Air Connectivity Solution

BANDUNG, JABAR — PT Dirgantara Indonesia (PTDI) commemorated the 50-year journey of the national aerospace industry through a National Symposium held at the N219 Final Assembly Line (FAL) Hangar, PTDI, Bandung, West Java, Wednesday (26/8/2026).

The symposium raised the theme "Strengthening Air Connectivity for Equitable Development, Economic Growth, and Independence of the Indonesian Aviation Industry."

During the event, President Director of PTDI Gita Amperiawan, Vice Minister of National Development Planning/National Development Planning Agency (PPN/Bappenas) Febrian Alphyanto Ruddyard, Vice Minister of Health Benjamin Paulus Octavianus, and Vice Governor of West Java Erwan Setiawan inspected the N219 aircraft displayed in the final assembly hangar area.

The 50th-anniversary commemoration of PTDI served as a momentum to strengthen discussions on the future of national air connectivity and the role of the aviation industry in supporting equitable development in Indonesia.

On the same occasion, PTDI inaugurated the N219 Final Assembly Line (FAL) Hangar as part of efforts to strengthen the manufacturing readiness of the N219 aircraft.

The inauguration of the facility represents one of the milestones in the development of N219 production capabilities, designed to support air connectivity needs in Indonesia, particularly in regions with geographically challenging transport access.

The N219 is an aircraft developed by PTDI for aviation needs in areas with diverse geographical characteristics and infrastructure. The presence of the aircraft is expected to support inter-regional connectivity while opening up opportunities for air transportation development in underserved areas.

In addition to the FAL hangar inauguration, PTDI also carried out a symbolic handover of the First Cutting Part for the commercial N219.

This milestone forms part of the aircraft manufacturing process and marks the start of component production work for the commercial N219 program.

For PTDI, manufacturing readiness is an important factor in ensuring the development of national aircraft products continues in a measured manner and meets market demand.

Strengthening manufacturing capabilities is also part of efforts to build the independence of the national aviation industry, including enhancing the industry's ability to develop and produce aircraft tailored to user needs.

The theme raised in the symposium places air connectivity as a crucial aspect in supporting more equitable development.

As an archipelagic nation, Indonesia faces geographical challenges in connecting regions with different characteristics. Air transportation serves as a strategic mode of transport to strengthen inter-regional connectivity, especially for areas facing limited access to land and sea transport.

Therefore, the development of national aircraft such as the N219 is not only related to the aviation industry aspect, but also to connectivity needs, public mobility, goods distribution, and support for economic activities across various regions.

The 50th-anniversary commemoration of PTDI through the national symposium also serves as a momentum to strengthen commitment to the development of the national aviation industry.

With the inauguration of the N219 FAL Hangar and the commencement of commercial N219 production stages, PTDI affirms its efforts to strengthen manufacturing readiness while driving the N219 to become part of the solution for national air connectivity.

This step is expected to support more inclusive development, expand regional connectivity, and strengthen Indonesia's independence in the aviation industry.
