"Exciting Aircraft Exploration at PTDI"
I was lucky to be one of 50 students invited to take a closer look at PT Dirgantara Indonesia (PTDI) in Bandung, especially considering 127 students had registered. This exciting adventure began on Saturday, August 22, 2026, when we attended a briefing to become Media Indonesia Junior Reporters via Zoom.
We were given a lot of knowledge, which helped me understand what needs to be done when reporting. One key lesson was that being a Junior Reporter requires courage.
Monday morning, August 24, 2026, became a moment I will never forget, because I got to see the aircraft at PTDI up close.
Exploring PTDI, Getting to Know Aircraft, and Dreaming Big
While visiting PTDI's Mock-up Gallery building, I saw many aircraft replicas, including the N219, CN235-220, and NC212i.
One thing that caught my attention was the replica of the unmanned UAV MALE and UAV Wulung aircraft. Both were amazing because they can be operated remotely. The UAV MALE and UAV Wulung are white in color and not as large as the CN235-220.
When visiting the FAL (Final Assembly Line) Hangar, I met Mr. Andrie, who is in charge of supervising the mechanics at work. Mr. Andrie explained the functions of some of the equipment found there.
Junior Reporter Gets a Glimpse into the World of Aircraft at PTDI
One example was a ladder positioned near the aircraft. The ladder is used to help mechanics work more easily and comfortably while performing tasks on parts of the plane.
The adventure at PTDI also taught me that besides the N250, which was designed by B.J. Habibie, PTDI also develops the N219 aircraft. Mr. Dena Hendriana, PTDI's Director of Production, said he is very proud of this aircraft.
He said the aircraft he is most proud of is the N219, because it was designed by Indonesia's own people, speaking during the press conference at the B.J. Habibie Auditorium as part of the Media Indonesia Junior Reporter event with PTDI.
Mr. Dena explained that the N219 is designed to carry 19 passengers and can be used to support various needs, including disaster evacuation. This aircraft is also designed to be able to operate from relatively short runways that don't always need to have a paved surface.
Becoming a Junior Reporter has made me even more motivated to pursue my dream of becoming a scientist.
