PTDI and BAT Agree to Collaborate to Build an Aircraft Maintenance and Repair Industry Ecosystem
Bandung City – PT Dirgantara Indonesia (PTDI) is strengthening its partnership in the aircraft maintenance, repair, and overhaul (MRO) industry by collaborating with Batam Aero Technic (BAT).
The two companies have agreed to collaborate to utilize their respective potential and resources.
This agreement was further strengthened through the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) in the Plenary Meeting Room, Nurtanio Building, PTDI, on Friday (April 10, 2026).
The MoU was signed by PTDI's Director of Commerce, Technology, and Development, Moh. Arif Faisal, and BAT's Director, Capt. Daniel Putut Kuncoro Adi.
For PTDI, this collaboration is a strategic step to meet the growing demand for aircraft after-sales services.
The collaboration stipulates that both PTDI and BAT will jointly optimize their respective resources in aircraft maintenance and repair.
This state-owned company has the resources to support MRO activities, including aircraft maintenance facilities, equipment, technical personnel, and other facilities.
With its extensive experience in the aerospace industry, PTDI also possesses capabilities in design, production, testing, and maintenance.
Meanwhile, BAT is also known to have potential in aircraft maintenance and repair. This capability is evidenced by its certification from the DGCA, the Indonesian civil aviation authority.
Several partner operators have also expressed their trust in BAT for aircraft fleet maintenance.
"Through our collaboration with PTDI, we see a significant opportunity to develop human resources that are not only technically competent but also understand import and export mechanisms, and are adaptable to technological developments," said Capt. Daniel.
Daniel stated that BAT is quite capable of technological transformations, such as digital, AI, and robotics, in providing MRO services.
The PTDI-BAT collaboration became even more relevant when it was revealed that PTDI has an aircraft maintenance training program. BAT stated that it is ready to absorb graduates from this program.
"This collaboration is also part of PTDI's efforts to increase competitiveness in the after-sales service sector. We see strong potential for synergy," explained Moh Arif Faisal of PTDI.
Arif also revealed that the company, formerly known as IPTN, will also experience other benefits, including increased efficiency.
Furthermore, this synergy will create jobs, improve the competence of the national workforce, and strengthen the aerospace industry supply chain.***(BS)
