One Platform, Multiple Missions: PTDI Delivers NC212i Troop Transport, Rainmaking & Camera Aircraft to the Indonesian Air Force
Bandung, jakarta.suaramerdeka.com – PT Dirgantara Indonesia (Persero) (PTDI) has once again delivered one NC212i aircraft specially configured for Troop Transport, Rainmaking & Camera missions, as part of the fulfillment of a contract for the procurement of nine NC212i aircraft with the Indonesian Ministry of Defense (Kemhan RI), with the Indonesian Air Force (TNI AU) as the end user.
The eighth NC212i aircraft delivered today has completed its ferry flight from PTDI’s Delivery Center hangar in Bandung to Abdulrachman Saleh Air Base in Malang. This delivery reflects PTDI’s commitment to strengthening the Indonesian Air Force’s operational readiness by providing aircraft tailored to specific mission requirements.
The NC212i aircraft configured for Troop Transport, Rainmaking & Camera missions is designed to support a wide range of operational requirements, from personnel transport and weather modification operations to aerial photography missions. This special configuration demonstrates the flexibility of the NC212i platform, which can be adapted to meet users’ specific requirements and effectively perform various missions.
To enhance operational performance and comfort, the NC212i is also equipped with MTV-27 propellers manufactured by MT Propeller, Germany, which are certified by the European Union Aviation Safety Agency (EASA). The propellers offer several advantages, including lower noise levels, more stable performance during single-engine operations at altitude, and smoother engine starts without sudden jolts.
With proven compatibility with the Honeywell TPE331 engine, the MTV-27 propellers enhance aircraft performance while reducing vibration and noise levels, thereby providing greater operational comfort and efficiency.
On the occasion, PTDI Production Director Dena Hendriana, together with the NC212i program team, directly inspected the preparation of the aircraft bearing tail number AX-2135, which will subsequently be operated by Air Squadron 4 in Malang.
The aircraft was flown by Lt. Col. Pnb Andika Ardyagana as the Ferry Pilot in Command, with Captain Irvan Fajar serving as the Copilot. Previously, the aircraft had obtained its Flight Acceptance Certificate on July 9, 2026.
“Alhamdulillah, today we are conducting the ferry flight. This is part of our commitment to delivering the order from the Indonesian Ministry of Defense. This is the eighth unit out of the nine aircraft ordered. God willing, this aircraft will strengthen the capabilities of the Indonesian Air Force based in Malang and contribute to safeguarding the sovereignty of the Republic of Indonesia. We hope the ferry flight from Bandung to Malang will proceed smoothly, with the crew remaining healthy and arriving safely in Malang,” said Dena Hendriana, Production Director of PTDI.
Meanwhile, Lt. Col. Pnb Andika Ardyagana said, “Regarding the aircraft’s performance, we conducted further development yesterday. Alhamdulillah, the aircraft has achieved its maximum capabilities. Following the ferry flight, the aircraft will undergo the acceptance process by the Indonesian Ministry of Defense and the Indonesian Air Force. We hope this aircraft will further strengthen the Indonesian Air Force’s capabilities in safeguarding the sovereignty of the Republic of Indonesia. We from the Indonesian Air Force also hope that PTDI will continue to grow and be able to support all Government programs and fulfill Indonesia’s defense needs toward an advanced Indonesia.”
The eight NC212i aircraft delivered by PTDI to the Indonesian Air Force have been configured according to operational requirements, including Troop Transport, Rainmaking & Camera, and Navigation Training configurations. The variety of configurations demonstrates the NC212i platform’s ability to support diverse mission requirements, while also highlighting PTDI’s capability to provide aerospace solutions tailored to users’ needs.
The remaining NC212i aircraft is scheduled to be completed and delivered in October 2027. With this delivery, PTDI will fulfill the entire contract for the procurement of nine NC212i aircraft for the Indonesian Ministry of Defense, with the Indonesian Air Force as the end user, as part of the Company’s commitment to strengthening Indonesia’s national air defense operational capabilities.
