Military Aircraft from Thailand to Korea Serviced in Bandung
Jakarta - PT Nusantara Turbin dan Propulsi (NTP), a subsidiary of PT Dirgantara Indonesia (Persero) or PTDI, is expanding its aircraft engine maintenance business across the Asia-Pacific market.
Nicki Subianto, VP of Business Development & Marketing at NTP, stated that NTP's capabilities are even utilized to support the aircraft engine needs of militaries ranging from Malaysia to Korea.
NTP is a Bandung-based company specializing in aircraft engine maintenance, repair, and overhaul (MRO). Beyond aircraft engines, the company also services industrial gas turbines, steam turbines, and rotating equipment.
At the TNI Fair 2026 exhibition, NTP showcased several engines and engine mock-ups it can service, including engines used on PTDI-manufactured CN235 and NC212 aircraft.
"So, we are showcasing what engines we are capable of handling. Starting from brochures on which engines we service. The engine model is the Honeywell TPE331. This one is installed on aircraft manufactured by PTDI. These are PTDI's flagship products, named the CN235 and the CASA 212," he told detikcom at the TNI Fair at the National Monument (Monas), Central Jakarta, on Saturday (19/9/2026).
NTP's edge lies in its Authorized Maintenance Center (AMC) certification from original equipment manufacturers (OEMs) for various engine types. According to NTP, for certain displayed engine models, the company is the sole AMC in Indonesia.
"We are an Authorized Maintenance Center, directly authorized by the OEM, and we are the only one in Indonesia," he said.
In addition to OEM certifications, NTP holds international credentials, including one from the United States Federal Aviation Administration (FAA). These certifications enable NTP to cater to operators from several nations.
"We are also certified in Thailand, Nepal, Canada, and several other countries. Whenever they need our services, we can achieve compliance," he explained.
From the Malaysian Military to Korea
NTP's current market is no longer limited to domestic clients. NTP has served multiple customers across the Asia-Pacific region, although the majority of its business still stems from the military sector.
NTP holds long-term contracts with the Royal Malaysian Air Force (TUDM). Beyond Malaysia, the company also serves clients in Thailand and Korea.
In Thailand, NTP's clients include the Royal Thai Air Force and the Royal Thai Navy. In Korea, NTP services the Korean Coast Guard and the Republic of Korea Air Force.
"As for Korea, there are the Korean Coast Guard and the Korean Air Force. Their engines come to us as well," he said.
Developing Drone Engines
Not stopping at the MRO sector, NTP has also begun developing engines for drones, or unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs). According to NTP, this venture addresses the surging adoption of drones and UAVs across the aviation industry.
"Moving forward, we will begin drone engine manufacturing. We are taking this step because drones are currently booming. The aviation industry is experiencing a boom in drones, UAVs, and unmanned aircraft," he explained.
NTP is also working on the Rolls-Royce Allison 556 engine for Hercules aircraft, a development project that is currently in progress.
