PTDI Targets Production of 150 N219 Aircraft Units for Remote Regions

Jakarta - PT Dirgantara Indonesia (Persero) or PTDI is increasing the production of its 19-passenger N219 commercial aircraft. VP of Business Development & Marketing Heber M. F. Panjaitan explained that the N219 aircraft is produced to serve pioneer routes such as 3T regions (Underdeveloped, Frontier, and Outermost).

The N219 aircraft is believed to be capable of connecting areas that are difficult to reach by land or sea. Heber emphasized that the N219 aircraft is produced for dual-use purposes, serving both civil/commercial and military needs.

"For commercial use, the potential is more than 150 units to fulfill pioneer routes, that's for the N219. So the market share is quite substantial and viable. And there are 30 units assigned by the Ministry of Defense that I mentioned earlier, 30 units from the Presidential assignment, to meet the needs of ministries and agencies. So indeed, the market share is quite large—150 plus 30, making it 180 units," he told detikcom during the TNI Fair at the National Monument, Central Jakarta, Saturday (19/9/2026).

To pursue this market, PTDI aims to gradually increase the production capacity of the N219. In 2026, Heber revealed that contracts for 13 units have already been secured: 4 for commercial use, 6 requested by the Indonesian Army (TNI AD), and 3 ordered by PT BIBU Agro Maritim, a subsidiary of PT BIBU Panji Sakti.

Additionally, 3 units of the N219 have entered the Procurement Agreement (PPBJ) phase with the Ministry of Defense.

"For the N219 itself, those already under contract include 6 for the Indonesian Army, 4 from Mitra Aviasi Perkasa, and 3 from BIBU Panji Sakti," he added.

PTDI stated that the price of the N219 ranges between US$9 million and US$10 million per unit. However, this price does not include specific modification requests.

"If we look at it, we already have pricing of around 9 million to 10 million dollars per aircraft for the basic configuration. So it just needs to be multiplied by the number of units for the basic configuration, unless there are specific modifications, which might increase the price," he said.

PTDI Aircraft Production

Overall, PTDI's total production capacity in 2026 is targeted to reach 28 units. This figure consists of 6 NC212 units, 4 CN235 units, 2 N219 units, and 16 helicopters.

"For production, our capacity in 2026 is 28 units—a combination of 6 NC212i units, 4 CN235s, 2 N219s, and 16 helicopters. We target a gradual increase through the expansion of the CN235 to 6–8 units per year, eventually up to 10–12 units per year. As for the N219, it will increase from 6 to 12 units per year. Our target export destinations are regions in the Asia-Pacific, Africa, and Latin America," he explained.

This aircraft was also showcased at the TNI Fair held at the National Monument (Monas) on September 19–20, 2026. The exhibition served as an event for PT Dirgantara Indonesia (PTDI) to display various products and aerospace industry capabilities that have been contracted or have the potential to meet the needs of the Indonesian National Armed Forces (TNI).

Products displayed included the CN235, NC212/NC212i, N219 aircraft, helicopters, and several defense support technologies.

In addition to aircraft products, PTDI showcased various defense technology collaborations and developments, including partnerships with foreign partners and drone development. PTDI is also strengthening its aircraft engine maintenance and overhaul capabilities through its subsidiary, PT Nusantara Turbin dan Propulsi (NTP).

PTDI's participation in this exhibition is also part of the company's efforts to expand its market and increase production capacity.
