Arriving in Bandung, Sekkau A-119 Student Officers Visit PT Dirgantara Indonesia
TNI AU. Upon arriving in Bandung, West Java, Student Officers (Pasis) of the 119th Class of the Air Force Unit Command School (Sekkau) conducted a working study visit to PT Dirgantara Indonesia, under the theme "Defense Industry Capability in Realizing Domestically Produced Guided Missiles for TNI AU." The Pasis hoped to deepen their understanding and obtain accurate data for use as a basis for drafting their Academic Papers. This activity took place on Wednesday (23/09/26).
Sekkau Commander, Air Commodore (Marsma TNI) Arief Budiman, S.T., PSC(J), in a speech read out by Sekkau Koordostun Colonel (Pom) Taufik Setiaji, M.Han., expressed hope that throughout the working study visit at PT Dirgantara Indonesia (PT DI), all Pasis would be able to view issues from various perspectives, conduct objective observations, and build analytical and strategic thinking skills.
Head of PT DI's Aerospace Technology Testing Center Division, Mr. Yustinus Kus Wardhana, explained that PT DI is determined to become the market leader for medium and light-class turboprop aircraft and to serve as a benchmark in the Asia Pacific region, by optimizing its industrial and commercial competencies through delivering competitive products and services in terms of both quality and cost. More specifically, he explained that PT DI also develops and produces weapons, particularly rocket-based systems.
In addition, the Pasis also received material from PT DI's Production Manager for Strategic Weapon System Products, Mr. Aenarofik, who explained that in the 1946–1960s period, the origins of the aerospace industry began with the AURI Aircraft Planning and Construction Bureau in Madiun and Bandung, before the name changed to PT Industri Pesawat Terbang Nusantara (IPTN) in 1985. It was only in 2000 that the company was officially inaugurated as PT Dirgantara Indonesia (Persero) by President Abdurrahman Wahid, on August 24, 2000.
The material session continued with PT DI's Chief Engineer for Missiles, Mr. Yudhistira Sulaeman, who explained the long-range missile/guided missile system.
This activity was attended by 103 Sekkau A-119 Pasis, including 2 foreign students from Malaysia and the Philippines, relevant Sekkau officials, and supervising lecturers.
