PTDI's N-219 Aircraft Enters Commercial Market, Sold 4 Units

BANDUNG, iNews.id - For the first time, the N-219 aircraft manufactured by PT Dirgantara Indonesia has successfully penetrated the commercial market. Four aircraft were purchased with a contract value of US$36.1 million.

The sale was marked by the signing of a contract between PT Dirgantara Indonesia (DI) and PT Mitra Aviasi Perkasa at the PTDI hangar. This agreement marks a new milestone for the national aerospace industry.

Previously, PTDI-produced aircraft were primarily used by the government and military.

Deputy Minister of National Development Planning/Bappenas, Febrian Alphyanto Ruddyard, stated that this milestone marks a historic milestone and proves that domestic products are capable of competing in the commercial market.

"This aircraft has unique characteristics that can meet the needs of Indonesia, especially for flights to the outermost islands," said Febrian Alphyanto Ruddyard.

On the same occasion, PTDI President Director Gita Amperiawan explained that the N-219 aircraft was specifically designed for Indonesia's geographical conditions.

"This is called the N-219, whereas previously we were CN. This is a 100 percent Indonesian product. So the N-219 is truly Indonesian," said Gita.

This aircraft is considered capable of taking off and landing on short runways, including unpaved areas. Furthermore, its competitive operational costs and after-sales support are key advantages.

"From an operational perspective, we designed it to be competitive," he said.

Meanwhile, the CEO of PT Mitra Aviasi Perkasa, Septo Sudiro, stated that this purchase is the first step in fleet development. The aircraft are planned to be operated in areas requiring pioneering flight services.

The four N-219 aircraft are scheduled to be handed over in stages until 2028. This contract is expected to stimulate growth in the national aviation industry and encourage the use of domestic products, making Indonesia not only a market but also a major player in the aerospace industry.
