Marking Four Decades of Partnership, PTDI and Bell Textron Inc. Strengthen Collaboration to Develop the Helicopter Industry
Jakarta – PT Dirgantara Indonesia (PTDI) and Bell Texton Inc. (Bell) are celebrating 40 years of collaboration in the aerospace sector. Notably, the celebration of this four-decade partnership took place on the second day of the Indonesia International Search and Rescue (IISAR) 2026 event at Pantai Indah Kapuk 2, Jakarta, on Saturday (July 1, 2026). PTDI’s Director of Commerce and Business Development, Moh. Arif Faisal, stated that the 40-year journey signifies a relationship defined by consistency between the two companies. This relationship is built on mutual trust and commitment, manifested through integrated service development ranging from assembly and maintenance to after-sales support. "We believe that by combining Bell’s global experience with PTDI’s industrial capabilities, we can continue to deliver the best solutions for customers while supporting the growth of the aerospace industry in Indonesia and the Asia-Pacific region," he said. The collaboration, spanning four decades, was also acknowledged by Bell’s Business Development Director, Yudhistira Nugraha. He briefly recounted the origins of the partnership between Bell and PTDI. "The collaboration began with the production of helicopter components for Bell and progressed in 2012 with the signing of an Industrial and Commercial Agreement," Yudhistira revealed. He noted that the agreement enabled PTDI to expand its role beyond merely selling helicopters to Bell; the state-owned enterprise’s capabilities grew to the point where it could customize the Bell 412 to meet specific end-user requirements. "We are committed to strengthening and enhancing our partnership with PTDI," he emphasized. So, what have PTDI and Bell accomplished over the past 40 years? In an official statement, PTDI confirmed its collaboration with Bell in developing the helicopter industry in Indonesia. At the Indo Defence 2024 Expo & Forum, PTDI and Bell agreed to strengthen their collaboration regarding the supply of Bell helicopters to the Indonesian National Armed Forces (TNI) and government agencies. The agreement stipulates that PTDI will serve as the mission equipment integrator to support various missions. It also outlines the development of after-sales services for Bell helicopter operators in Indonesia, as well as plans to expand cooperation by granting PTDI greater authority regarding the marketing and sales of the Bell 505 helicopter. Furthermore, this authorization enables PTDI to expand the marketing of special-mission helicopters beyond Indonesia and across the ASEAN region.
